Jenny L. Moles
Founder and College Essay Consultant
Jenny is a professional editor with twenty years of experience finessing the written word. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a BA in English Literature and honed her editing skills as a peer-to-peer writing advisor, she worked at such esteemed book publishing houses as Farrar, Straus & Giroux; Random House; and Houghton Mifflin. Her editorial projects across these jobs were incredibly diverse, ranging from elite literary hardcovers to trade and mass market blockbusters, from design-heavy cookbooks to beloved children’s picture books.
Over the early years of raising her three children, she juggled dynamic parenting with teaching yoga in her local community, eventually returning to her true passion as an editor. She’s worked on the books of both famous authors and debut novelists—and on everything in between. From each of her careers, she’s squirreled away vital lessons: appreciation for the individual and all of his or her peccadillos, the importance of an earth-shatteringly deep breath, cultivation of patience as a way of generating good ideas and creativity, and finally, the essential nature of a well-told story.
Parents, Jenny has been where you are now. By the time Jenny’s eldest child was preparing to write his own college essays, she had sharpened all of the skills needed to be in perfect partnership with him. Bring on the editing, time management, patient coaching, sideline cheering, crisis mitigation. He’d write and reveal his true self and she would deliver constructive criticism.
Except that’s not what happened. Firstborn sat on his bed staring at his phone while Jenny stressed out about his appalling lack of urgency (her words), and then she pitched a desperate fit and hired a college essay consultant. The team stopped fighting, he wrote beautiful essays, she read them and kept her big mothering mouth shut, and he went off to his Perfect-Fit college. She has no illusions about helping her other two children with their essays because, quite frankly, she learns from her mistakes. Jenny is here to help you by being the professional essay coach so you can be the professional supportive parent. It’s that simple.
